Important safety information
- Never leave your horse unattended while the pad is in use.
- Introduce the pad gradually. Stop and remove it safely if your horse becomes uncomfortable, restless or distressed.
- Never look directly into the LEDs. Near-infrared LEDs can be operating even when they appear unlit.
- LEDs may become warm. Check for discomfort or skin irritation.
- Do not sharply fold, crush, puncture or damage the LED area, cable or electrical components.
- Never immerse the pad or power bank in water. Do not use damaged cables or components.
- Do not charge the power bank while it is attached to your horse.
The pad switches off automatically after 20 minutes. It does not replace veterinary assessment or treatment.

Prepare the power supply
- Before first use, fully charge the supplied power bank using the appropriate cable and adapter.
- Disconnect the power bank from its charger before use. Place it securely in its pouch.
- Connect the pad’s power lead to the compatible power bank output. The manufacturer recommends a 5 V, 2 A output.
- If the power bank is low or the lights dim, switch the pad off and recharge the power bank before the next session.
Position and start a session
- Prepare your horse. Choose a safe, calm location with secure footing. Ensure the coat and treatment area are clean and dry.
- Position while off. Place the flexible pad over the intended back or neck area with the LED surface facing the horse. Avoid excessive pressure, sensitive wounds or restricted movement.
- Secure gently. Use the supplied Velcro straps as appropriate. Keep the power bank and cable positioned so they cannot snag, pull or be stepped on.
- Switch on. Press the power button briefly; the indicator illuminates green for continuous mode.
- Monitor the session. Choose a light setting below and remain with your horse. The pad turns off automatically after 20 minutes.
- Remove safely. Switch off, disconnect the power supply and remove the straps and pad before cleaning or storing.

Session duration and frequency
The ACTIVE Back & Neck pad has an automatic 20-minute timer. The manufacturer brochure suggests 1–2 sessions daily for at least four weeks. This is general manufacturer guidance, not an individualized veterinary prescription.
For a horse new to light therapy, introduce the pad gradually and use shorter supervised sessions if needed for comfort. Consult your veterinarian for persistent pain, swelling, lameness, injury or other health concerns.
Cleaning, care and storage
- Switch off and disconnect the power supply before cleaning.
- Wipe the PVC LED-facing surface with a lightly damp cloth. Clean fabric areas with a lint roller or lightly damp cloth.
- Do not submerge, machine wash or saturate electrical components. Avoid harsh cleaners.
- Allow the pad to air-dry completely before use or storage.
- Do not fold the pad sharply across the LED area; store it loosely in the supplied carry bag.
- Store clean and dry, away from direct sunlight, at temperatures above 5°C (41°F).

Troubleshooting
The pad does not turn on
Some LEDs look off
The lights turn off after 20 minutes
The lights appear dim or flicker
My horse is uncomfortable
Understanding the two wavelengths
660 nm red light is visible; 850 nm near-infrared light is generally invisible. These wavelengths are commonly used in photobiomodulation products. Evidence for particular equine conditions varies, and the pad should not replace professional veterinary care.
